Memento Deck: A Court of Bones
This black-and-white playing-card suite reimagines the traditional court as a macabre memento mori. Each face card reduces its subject to skeletal essence, framed by classic suit iconography and ornate filigree, transforming a familiar deck into a meditation on chance, mortality, and desire:
Ace of Clubs – “Palmed Skull”
A single, grinning skull hovers above outstretched hands set into a bold diamond, its hollow eyes inviting both invitation and reminder of the inevitable.
Jack of Diamonds – “Floral Cadaver”
Our Jack laughs with a rose in hand, a skeleton in gentleman’s guise whose mirth contrasts with the decaying bloom he presents—life and death entangled in a single gesture.
King of Clubs – “Crimson Crown”
The King kneels, skeleton crowned and sword aloft, a monarch of dust who wields his blade one last time, triumphant even in stillness.
Queen of Hearts – “Embrace of Echoes”
Two skeletal lovers entwine within the shape of the heart, their forms mirrored in a topographic void—an intimate “I–you” folded into one eternal contour.
Together, these cards fuse anatomical precision, vintage deck flourishes, and stark graphic contrast—inviting you to shuffle fate, deal the hand, and remember that every game ends in the same, silent resolution.
